May I start by telling one of the strangest stories in this saga? One day in 1976, I wrote to Michael Bentine after seeing a programme on television which indicated his interest in strange energies and stone. He telephoned immediately he received the letter and we talked for an hour. We found we had much in common - even the same tutor.
Within a couple of says he came to visit me. I explained to him the story I am going to tell you, as it had unfolded up till then. I gave him a fragment of quartz-like material detached from an object found under strange circumstances and which was for me very important. He telephoned me a few days later.
"Look", he said: "I was fascinated by your story and I took the fragment to Jo Benjamin, the well-known psychometrist, but I'm sorry to tell you that he couldn't make anything sensible of it; it's very disappointing."
"Well, what did he say?" I asked, downcast.
"Well, first of all he mentioned a connection with RICO or RICHO, or ARICO. He was holding the fragment in a packet and didn't know what it was. ~Then he said Bligh.'Ah, you mean Colin Bloy,' I said. 'No' he replied: 'No,' he replied 'Not Bloy, Bligh - Bligh Bond.' I'm sorry," Michael concluded; "It's all nonsense."
"Do you know what RILKO is?" I asked.
"Never heard of it," he replied.
"And Bligh Bond means nothing to you?"
"Never heard of him."
I told him what they meant - he shouted out loud. (Note: For those who do not know of Bligh Bond, he used clairvoyance when investigating the archaeological remains at Glastonbury at the behest of the Church authorities, (and was guided in his investigations by a long dead monk) Unfortunately, he was unwise enough to speak of this; it went down like a lead balloon and resulted in his excavations being filled in and in his dismissal from the project.) "And do you know that Bligh Bond's last book was on the Holy Grail?"
"Good night!" he replied.
It ends: "I am convinced we have been given a most important piece of evidence."
